Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Recent scientific studies have proven that many injuries and illnesses involve the lack of oxygen-rich blood. As a result, oxygen is unable to travel to affected areas of the body.

The most prevalent condition is the case of diabetes. Here, slowed circulation makes it difficult for oxygen-rich red blood cells to reach wounded areas of the skin. As a result, these injuries heal slowly or do not heal at all.

HBOT is being used to treat many different medical conditions and injuries by increasing the level of oxygen in the tissues. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a stand-alone treatment or a supportive therapy In all circumstances, it is advisable to consult a doctor or health care professional before undergoing HBOT.

Common FDA-Approved Indications for HBOT

Other most important uses

Autism, Alzheimer’s disease, Cancer, COVID-19, Lyme disease, Chronic pain, and Stroke. Always consult with a healthcare provider to determine if HBOT is an appropriate treatment for your specific condition.

Are there any side effects???

When HBOT chambers are used for indications cleared by the FDA, HBOT is generally safe, and serious complications are rare.

Because of the increased pressure and increased concentration of the oxygen during HBOT, potential risks include:

  • Ear and sinus pain
  • Middle ear injuries
  • A thorough evaluation is necessary, especially for those with chronic conditions, to ensure the therapy is appropriate and safe.

During the Treatment

  1. Entering the Chamber:

You will enter the chamber, which is a clear tube (monoplace) or a room for multiple people (multiplace).

  1. Pressurization:

The chamber is sealed, and the air pressure is gradually increased to more than normal atmospheric pressure.

  1. Breathing Pure Oxygen:

You will breathe 100% pure oxygen. In a monoplace chamber, you may be directly exposed to it, while in a multiplace chamber, you’ll use a mask or hood.

  1. Monitoring:

Your vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, are monitored by the healthcare team.

After the Treatment

  • Decompression: The pressure inside the chamber is slowly decreased to normal levels.
  • Assessment: The team assesses you and your ears.
  • Resuming Activities: You can typically return to your normal activities, though you may feel some fatigue or hunger.

During the Treatment

  • The length of the therapy varies by condition, lasting 1.5 to 2 hours for most cases.
  • The total number of sessions also differs; some conditions, like carbon monoxide poisoning, might be treated in a few sessions, while non-healing wounds may require many more.
  • Usually it may require a minimal of 5-10 sessions to see some visible benefit

Cost of the procedure :

Depending on the center and number of sessions you take up it may cost anywhere betwen 4000-8000/ session
